Eeeeat! You’re so FLACKO!
OBVIOUSLY, Arizona is great for Mexican Food + Southwestern peoples show love through food. Here are some of the Montiel Family Tempe favorites.
TEMPE | BARRIO QUEEN
COST: CHEAP TO MODERATE | ATMOSPHERE: CASUAL SIT DOWN OR TAKE OUT | BEST THING: EVERYTHING
Restaurante and TEQUILARIA has both indoor and outdoor setting. Chef Julio Matta comes from a legacy family of Mexican restraunteurs…so everything on the menu is AMAZING.
TEMPE | MUCHA LUCHA TACO SHOP
COST: CHEAP | ATMOSPHERE: VERY CASUAL SIT DOWN OR TAKE OUT | BEST THING: The Mural
Mucha Lucha is an independently owned, campy-straight out Mexico Chipotle. You pick your platform — burrito, taco, bowl…and then make it what you like. They have standards recipes, but you can modify all the tasty mods.
CHANDLER | SERRANO’S MEXICAN
COST: CHEAP TO MODERATE | ATMOSPHERE: SIT DOWN CASUAL | BEST THING: BEAN DIP!
Serrano’s is a legacy family restaurant that has three locations across Phoenix. Our family often just orders something a la carté and make a meal of their great bean dip, salsa, and chips.
MESA | THE BLUE ADOBE GRILLE
COST: MODERATE TO EXPENSIVE | ATMOSPHERE: SIT DOWN CASUAL | BEST THING: CHILE RELLENO
The Blue Adobe is off the beaten path in the suburb of Mesa…but is definitely a hidden gem. It is right off of the Country Club Light Rail Stop. All the daily specials are amazing…but their chile is something to try!
