ARCOSANTI, AZ
1 hr + 15min drive from Tempe | Take Loop 202 to I-17 N — Take exit 263 for Arcosanti Rd
“Urban Laboratory”
Arcosanti is a projected experimental town with a molten bronze bell casting business in Yavapai County, central Arizona, 70 mi north of Phoenix, at an elevation of 3,732 feet. Its arcology concept was posited by the Italian-American architect, Paolo Soleri, contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright. Visit The Most Unique Architecture & Ecology Experiment In Arizona (maybe the world) and check out their one-Of-A-Kind Arcosanti Windbells, Handcrafted Daily By Resident Artisans! This “city”" and “experiment” is 50 Years old…so it is a bit of hippy time capsule too.
