QUICK DEETS ABOUT ALYSSA

  • She is our wedding photographer!

  • Born & raised  in Mesa, AZ

  • What do you do for a living? PHOTOGRAPHY, silly! I love documenting life for people. Photos have always been important to me, but when my brother died, they became REALLY important to me, which is why I decided to get into photography as a career. Life is too short to not do what you love, and I love capturing meaningful photos for people. Death is often the great motivator in life to make us re-evaluate things and see the fragility of life and joy.

  • Politics? Conservative to Middle of the Road

  • Are you religious?

Spiritual, definitely woo-woo but I try to keep a lid on it unless people specifically are interested! I promise I'm not TOO weird.

  • Are you bringing a wedding partner?: My 2nd shooter, Sarah to capture all the fun moments!

A little more about about Alyssa

I love people. I have a psych degree and originally thought I was going to go into neuroscience. I even went as far as to work at a neuroscience lab on campus for a few years, and have my name on a few published papers on studies about chronic stress and the effects of that on rat brains. But, when my brother committed suicide, it made me re-evaluate what made me happy, so I threw myself into photography and made it my full time career. I grew up in a family with a long line of entrepreneurs, telling myself that I wouldn't have my own business because I didn't want to be working 80 hours a week. But here I am, and I love having my own business. I'm also a big geek about marketing.

Currently I'm trying to turn my backyard into a jungle which is a challenge in the desert! I love driving my husband crazy by bringing home new trees for him to dig holes for to plant. I have about 15+ types of fruit trees in our normal sized backyard and am always trying to figure out how to squeeze in more. I love permaculture and one day we both hope to have a homestead to have as many plants & animals as we want — as we already have two dogs and FIVE chickens…and too many plants to count.
